About The Author

Randy Gaddo is a formally-trained and experienced award-winning writer. He refined his natural writing and communication skills as a United States Marine Corps Combat Correspondent. He was a Marine journalist and photographer who traveled with Marine units all over the world, showing and telling the public about what Marines do. After he retired from the Corps he continued to publish freelance print magazine articles largely centered around military, public administration and history topics. Randy and his wife, Ellen, have three grown children and five grandchildren. They live in Athens, GA.

The Perilous Adventures of Time Travel is his first book. He chose to write historical fact-based, action-adventure, science-fiction for a middle grade audience for three main reasons. First, he remembers how important books and reading were to him growing up and he’d like to have that impact on young readers. Second, he read to his children when they were younger and he enjoyed doing it, so he writes his books as though he was going to read them out loud. He hopes that parents, teachers and young readers will do exactly that. A third reason is that he wanted to wrap the action with some information about historical events and people, a subject that is often not as thoroughly covered in school as it could be. The Perious Adventures of Time Travel is the first of three in the Essence of Time Trilogy.

From the Author: “I suppose you may be wondering why I show a photo of me with a guitar. It’s not because I claim to be a guitarist – that would diminish the accomplishments of those who can really play the instrument. I half-jokingly tell people I play guitar to support my singing habit, which is nominally accurate. I’ve been playing guitar for about 40 years, so I have picked up a thing or two along the way. I learned from a guy who played rythym guitar, so that’s my forte’; throw a little lead in and I can work my way through most songs. Most of all, though, I just love guitars! I have an eclectic collection of 20 or so that I have adquired along the way. There are so many different kinds of guitars. I admire the instrument’s shape, its tone, the feel of the neck and the fit of the body. Most of them are made of wood, so they are living, breathing beings with personalities all their own. When you find one that really suits you, it’s like finding your soul-mate (my human soul-mate/wife understands this and has come to accept it). Anyway, I’ll probably go on and on in a future blog about this stringed love affair of mine, but I just wanted to say “Hi” and give you an idea about why the guitar.

“I hope you’ll enjoy reading the book, “The Perilous Adventures of Time Travel.” Book Two in the trilogy will be coming soon.”

Later, Randy
